Le Chaletier's principle
發問:
How can I use Le Chaletier's principle to explain the effect of dilution on the extent of dissociation of enthanoic acid?...thank you!
最佳解答:
Le Chatelier's principle states that: " If a system in equilibrium is subjected to a change, the processes which take place are such to tend to counteract the effect of the change." Consider the dissociation of ethanoic acid: CH3COOH(aq) + H2O(l) ≒ CH3COO-(aq) + H3O+(aq) In dilution, H2O(l) is added. According to Le Chatelier's principle, the equilibrium position shifts to the right in order to decrease the concentration of H2O(l) (to counteract the effect of change). Due to the shift of equilibrium position to the right, the extent of dissociation of CH3COOH(aq) increases. =
